Privacy Policy for Lexicon Pro

Effective date: 10 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Lexicon Pro mobile application (“Lexicon Pro”, “the app”, “we”, “us”), Android package com.lexiconpro.app, handles information when you use it.

Lexicon Pro is a vocabulary app with a bundled word library, an offline dictionary, learning phrases, a journal, and optional online search, translation, and advertising features. The app does not require an account or login of any kind.

Lexicon Pro is published by the independent developer of Lexicon Pro, reachable at the email addresses in the Contact section below.

  1. Introduction

We built Lexicon Pro to keep as much of your data as possible on your own device. This policy describes exactly what stays on-device, what is sent to third parties (and why), and what choices you have.

Who collects your data

The developer of Lexicon Pro does not collect, store, sell, or have access to your personal data. We operate no servers and no user accounts, and we do not run our own analytics. Any data collection happens through the third-party services described below, only when you use the features that rely on them (Search/Translate, ads, purchases).

  1. Information We Collect (and Don’t)

2.1 Stored only on your device — never sent to us or any server

The following is created and stored only on your device, using local storage (AsyncStorage) and an on-device SQLite database. We have no access to it, cannot see it, and it is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage:

  • Saved words / favorites
  • Journal entries
  • Appearance and theme settings
  • Daily reminder (notification) setting
  • Daily-word state / progress
  • Custom phrases you add
  • Translation usage counters

2.2 Content shipped inside the app (read-only, not “your” data)

The bundled word library, the 82,000-word offline dictionary, and the Learn phrases are read-only reference content included in the app installation. They are not personal data and are not generated from or linked to you.

2.3 Information that leaves your device

Only two categories of information ever leave your device, described in detail in Section 3 and Section 4 below:

  • Text you choose to look up or translate (sent to LLM), and
  • Technical/advertising identifiers used to serve ads (via Google AdMob), for free-tier users only.

2.4 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, health data, or the contents of your messages. We do not require you to create an account or sign in.

  1. Search & Translate (LLM)

Lexicon Pro includes Search Words and Translate features.

  • Search Words sends your query to DeepSeek’s API only when the word is not already found in the app’s on-device library or offline dictionary.
  • Translate sends the text you enter to DeepSeek’s API to return a translation.

When you use either feature:

  • The text you type is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com) so it can return a definition or translation.
  • This happens only when you actively trigger the feature — it is user-initiated, not automatic or continuous.
  • No name, account identifier, or other personal identifier is attached to the request.
  • We do not store this text on any server we control. DeepSeek processes the request according to DeepSeek’s privacy policy, available on their website at https://www.deepseek.com.

Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into the Search Words or Translate features.

  1. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Free-tier users of Lexicon Pro may see banner and rewarded ads served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Pro (paid subscription) users do not see ads.

To serve ads, perform frequency capping, and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • Device identifiers, including the Advertising ID (AAID)
  • IP address
  • Ad-interaction data (impressions, clicks)

Where required by law (for example, in the EEA and UK), we present a consent prompt using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) before any non-essential ad data is collected, so you can choose which types of ads you receive.

Google’s use of this data is governed by Google’s own policies:

  • Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • How Google uses information from partner sites/apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
  • AdMob / Google Mobile Ads privacy & security: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
  1. Purchases (RevenueCat + Google Play Billing)

Subscription and one-time purchases in Lexicon Pro are processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card details.

We use RevenueCat to manage purchase entitlements (e.g., whether you have an active Pro subscription). RevenueCat identifies your purchase using an anonymous, app-generated user ID — not your name or email — along with purchase/transaction information supplied by Google Play.

You can manage ad personalization for your device generally through your device’s ad settings (e.g., Android Settings → Privacy → Ads).

  1. Data Storage & Security
  • Network traffic between the app and its third-party services (LLM, AdMob, RevenueCat/Google Play) uses HTTPS encryption in transit.
  • The app’s API key is stored in the device’s secure keystore (expo-secure-store), not in plain text.
  • Android backup of the app’s local data is disabled, so your on-device data is not copied to cloud backups.
  1. Data Retention & Deletion
  • On-device data (favorites, journal, settings, reminders, custom phrases, usage counters): retained on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its storage from your device settings. There is no account to delete because no account exists.
  • Text sent to LLM for Search Words / Translate is transient — used only to generate the response and not stored by us server-side. LLM’s own retention practices are governed by its privacy policy.
  • Advertising data collected by Google AdMob is retained and deleted according to Google’s own policies.
  • Purchase/entitlement data held by RevenueCat and Google Play is retained and deleted according to their respective policies.
  1. Permissions

Lexicon Pro requests only the permissions it needs:

  • Internet — required for Search Words, Translate, ads, and purchase verification.
  • Vibration — used for in-app haptic feedback.
  • Notifications — used only if you opt in to the optional daily reminder.

The app does not request location, camera, contacts, microphone, or photo/media access.

  1. Children’s Privacy

Lexicon Pro is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 12 so we can address it.

  1. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app’s features or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
